Type of Traffic: If you have pets or small children, you will want a floor with excellent wear resistance.

Maintenance: If you need something low maintenance, choose a resilient material like vinyl or laminate. All you need to clean these will be a damp mop.

Who is Installing: Some flooring is much easier to install yourself than others. Carpeting or tile should be left to the professionals, while laminate or vinyl is easier.
